Connect your Instagram in 15 minutes

Follow these steps to link your Instagram Business account. Once connected, you can compose and publish posts directly from your portal — no switching apps.

Checking connection…

Before you start, make sure you have:

An Instagram Business or Creator account (not a personal account)
A Facebook Page linked to your Instagram account
Admin access to that Facebook Page
Your business logo and a photo ready to post (for testing)

Switch to an Instagram Business account

If you're on a personal account, you'll need to switch. Open the Instagram app → Profile → Settings → Account type and tools → Switch to Professional account → choose Business.

Already a Business or Creator account? Skip this step. You can check in Instagram → Settings → Account type and tools.

Link a Facebook Page

Instagram's API requires a connected Facebook Page. Open Instagram → Settings → Account center → Linked accounts → Facebook → connect your business Page.

Don't have a Facebook Page? Create one at facebook.com/pages/create — it takes 2 minutes. Choose "Business or brand" and enter your business name.

Connect to PlugMySite

Click the button below. You'll be asked to sign in to Facebook and grant PlugMySite permission to post on behalf of your Instagram account. We request only the permissions we need:

Permissions requested:
• instagram_basic — read your IG profile info
• instagram_content_publish — publish photos on your behalf
• pages_show_list — find which FB Page is linked
• pages_read_engagement — read Page details

Test with your first post

Once connected, head to the Instagram tab in your portal and compose a test post. Upload an image, write a caption, and hit publish — it'll appear on your Instagram within seconds.

Tip: Images must be publicly accessible URLs (JPEG/PNG). We'll host uploads for you if you use the portal's built-in uploader.
